About the Foundation

Save Sight Missions is a gift account registered as a tax-exempt non-profit educational organization under the administration of Columbia University. It is dedicated to helping indigent individuals attain a higher quality

of life by the improvement of their vision. It seeks to develop the knowledge and skills of clinicians and allied health professionals in the diagnosis and medical/surgical care of eye diseases and thereby improve the visual  health of individuals in a given community. The Foundation pursues this mission by supporting education, training, research and practice.

It has two major integrated goals: one on human and community development and the other on education and dissemination of knowledge. The most important effort is to improve human condition with a substantial change in improving the quality of life.

The Foundation is committed to maintaining a close, cooperative and responsive relationship with other organizations and professionals in the community.

Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The funds are managed by Columbia University and are used primarily for the procurement of essential medical and surgical supplies.

The physicians and allied health professionals participating in the missions volunteer their time, skills, and finances. Accommodations for the volunteers are often provided by the host societies.
