My parents were kind of compulsive about my education. They made a list of all the books I checked out of the Chesterbook School Library and actually read, that they knew about (I actually read many more, like books about World War II like 30 Seconds over Tokyo). I really appreciated the library, I loved reading. Rin Tin Tin (which has nothing to do with the TV show or various movies by that name) kept me up all night. My parents came down in the morning and found me still reading it, I literally could not put it down. And Bambi... That is not the Disney version but the original, everybody should read it. I found out only recently (when I reread it, along with Black Beauty) that it was translated into English (from German) by Whittaker Chambers.
