Cryptorchidism and Testicular Cancer

• Increased risk of Testicular Cancer:

• 1:1000 vs 1:100,000 General Population; Cryptodchidism noted in 10% of men with testicular cancer (Abratt et al Br J Urol 1992)

• Orchiopexy and Risk Testicular Cancer:

• Age < 13 RR 2.2 (1.6-3.1

• Age ≥ 13 RR 5.4 (3.2-8.6) (Pettersson et al NEJM 2007)

• Contralateral: 10-25% (Cromie et al 1986)

• Intratubular Germ Cell Neoplasia Uncalssified Type (ITGCNU);

• Premaligmant condition found in 8% men with cryptoorchidism (Giwercman et al J Urol 1989)
