About Me
I am Zahid Mehmood, and I have proudly served the University for over 17 years, working within the Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) department. My journey began with the infrastructure engineering team, where I contributed to the maintenance and development of our core information technology infrastructure. Currently, I hold the position of Associate Director of Information Security and Risk Management. In this role, I have worked on improving our IT risk management practices, ensuring the University remains resilient against cyber threats and compliant with industry standards. My commitment is to ensuring that our University remains a safe, diverse, and vibrant learning environment.
Why I Want to Serve
If elected for the University Senate, I would be honored to serve as your representative . I will work to ensure that the voices of our faculty, staff, and students are heard and that their needs are addressed through thoughtful policy development. I am passionate about creating a culture of inclusivity and excellence.
During my time here, I have come to understand how crucial comprehensive benefits, safety measures, and a supportive work environment are for our employees and staff. These issues matter deeply to me, and are essential for fostering a positive and productive atmosphere.
