Welcome to the Fall 2001 Virtual Internet2 Member Meeting at Columbia |
Due to the recent tragic events, the Internet2 Fall 2001 Member Meeting that had been scheduled to meet in person in Austin, TX has instead become a virtual meeting. Columbia University is proud to be one of several sites hosting local groups of participants for the meeting.
Since preparations for this virtual meeting were made quite hastily, we ask that you bear with us through any technical and organizational difficulties. The Internet2 staff has done a tremendous job of transitioning a traditional conference hotel based meeting having many simultaneous tracks into online meetings.
By hosting this meeting here at Columbia, we hope to encourage the informal hallway and mealtime conversations that make in-person meetings so much more than the sum of their formal presentations. There will also be opportunities for informal conversations via videoconference connections to the other participant sites.
I hope you will join us at a reception hosted by Cisco Systems in room 504 Butler Libray on Tuesday following the Plenary sessions.
Feel free to ask any of the local Columbia participants for help finding your way around.
Enjoy the conference!

Starting Wednesday, 503 Butler Library will be available for participation in the other conference tracks. Please let me know if you intend to participate in these other tracks so we can make sure the video conference equipment is connected to the correct session.
