Biology C2006 / F2402 - Problems to Do -- Spring 2012

Note: This list is a guide, not an assignment.  Problems to do will be posted regularly throughout the term.  If there are no problems listed (yet) for a particular date it does NOT mean there are no problems to do!  It just means the list has not been updated yet.
We will do our best to keep it current, but you have to use your own judgment as well. (Note that some problems are also listed in the lectures, starting with Lect. 2.)

Lecture # Lect. Date Problem Set #   Problems
1-2
All problem numbers refer to the current edition of the problem book (2011). The '09, '10 & '11 Editions of the Problem Book are very similar.  See the corrections page for updates & corrections. You can use a '09 or '10 copy if you can find one in decent condition (but check the updates).
Note: The primary function of the problems is to help you deepen your understanding of the material. You should be able to do all the problems listed after you digest the material in the corresponding lecture(s). Keep in mind that you are expected to learn from doing the problems, so the questions may not be obvious at first glance, and may require considerable thought. The starred problems and review problem sets are there so you can test yourself after you have mastered a subject. Therefore, we recommend saving some or all of the starred problems (& the R problem sets) for review at a later date. We do not recommend doing the problems before lecture or before you have reviewed the specific material covered by a particular problem.

Many of the problems in Becker are worth doing. Several copies of the Solutions Manual for Becker should be on reserve in the new science library in the NorthWest Corner Building.
