STUDENT BIOGRAPHY
Zhu Wang
Graduate Student
I was raised in Jingzhou, Hubei Province in central China. It's a cultural city with a glorious history of around three thousand years. I got my B.S. degree in biological sciences at Peking University in 2003. There I've been involved in the whole genome project of a cyannobacterium and the proteomic project of Arabidopsis transcription factors. At Columbia, I wish to research in areas of curing illnesses through genomic approaches or study biological networks like signal transduction pathways. Neuroscience also appeals to me because I have a long cherished dream of understanding how the brain gives rise to cognition and emotion.

I can't help being excited at the thought of New York City life because I enjoy travelling and social life. In non-scientific time, I love table tennis, swimming, reading and singing pop music.
