book garners 4 prizes
Sharon Marcus, Professor of English and Comparative Literature Professor at Columbia, is the recipient of four distinguished prizes for her latest book, Between Women. Read more - Gillooly awarded Humanities fellowship
Eileen Gillooly has been named a 2009-10 Fellow at the National Humanities Center, where she will work on her project: "Anxious Affection: Parental Feeling in Nineteenth-Century Middle-Class Britain."

British History University Seminar

Dr. Jon Lawrence, Senior Lecturer in Modern British Political History at Cambridge University, will speak on "'Class', 'affluence' and the politics of everyday life in Britain, c. 1930-1964." The talk will be held in Fayerweather Hall, Room 411, Columbia University, on Monday Nov. 9, at 6pm. Dr. Lawrence has written widely on 19th and 20th century British politics; his most recent book, Electing our Masters: The Hustings in British Politics from Hogarth to Blair, was published by Oxford University Press last May.
