<><><><><><><><><><><> Intro: Read, Come and See
1. Be a Big Brother!
2. Ivy Council
3. Have ideas?
<><><><><><><><><><><>
Hey all, Welcome back! We have a truly exciting year
ahead of us. As you read this email, dozens of
new council members are creating programs and
activities that will make this year amazing.
How? We’re changing everything. This will be a
year for our class that will leave a mark on the
school. We’re forming traditions, putting
together some damn fun parties and events,
making important improvements to our school’s
policies on everything from health services to
international student issues and rallying up
some school spirit.
This year, we will focus on bringing together
the Columbia community. Expect study breaks that
involve campus groups such as Raw Elementz or
Chowdah, events unlike any that Columbia has
ever seen (keep your ears open for our first
event, “Graffiti Night”), new programs aimed at
bringing successful alumnae and internship
hungry undergrads together, and rocking t-shirts
so that you can show solidarity with what is
without question the most attractive and
brilliant class ever.
So read the emails, come to the events and see
what Columbia is capable of being. . .
Later,

1. Be a Big Brother!
Do you remember how strange it was to be a new
freshman? Would you like to make that experience
easier for others? Become a Big Brother!
The Columbia University Big Buddy Program is an
initiative to provide all incoming first-years
with a valuable relationship with an older peer.
Within the program every participating member of
the Columbia University Class of 2009 is paired
with a similar upperclassmen, based upon a
series of questions. Big Buddies will serve as a
peer advisor and friend in order to pick up
where FYSAAC leaves off. Once paired a series of
programming is provided throughout the year to
give buddies opportunities to interact and build
a valuable relationship.
If interested, email Jason Bello, the Director
of Academic Affairs for CCSC 2008,

The Columbia University Ivy Council Delegation
serves as a resource for student governments and
other student groups. We connect Columbia
students to students at other Ivies to provide
assistance with new initiatives. Members of the
Columbia Delegation sit on the Programs
Committee, Policy Committee, and Intergroup
Committee. The Programs Committee works with the
Ivy Leadership Summit, IvyCORPS, and other new
initiatives. The Policy Committee brainstorms,
gathers data, and implements new policy
initiatives. The Intergroup committee works on
connecting student groups across the Ivies to
promote unity and organization. For more
information please see the Ivy Council
website: http://www.ivycouncil.org.
