    A Very Brief Introduction
1.           CREATE A COLUMBIA TRADITION!
2.           CU Relief Kickoff Event
3.           “Read All About It” Alumnae Event
4.            Write the Council
5.            Bad Joke of the Week
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

Last week I promised that this would be a year of change. This week, our council lives up.

How? We’re taking Columbia tradition into our own hands and moving beyond Roar Lion Roar (though not forgetting about it). Our class, in coordination with the larger college and SEAS student councils, is running a contest to create a new school “Tailgate Song.”

There are no rules (except that it has to be appropriate!) and the winner, in addition to everlasting Columbia fame, gets a prize to be determined. The winning song will be broadcast over the big screen at the Spirit Day football game against Yale on October 29th and printed in the programme. In addition, the band will lead the crowd in its first, awesome and official unveiling. Even if it’s just for fun, make our class proud and join in by submitting a song (or two or three) to [email protected] or [email protected]. For more details, read below.

I’ll see you all at Baker Blast this Saturday,

Isaac Silverman

1. BECOME A PART OF COLUMBIA TRADITION!

Aspiring musician? Already a professional? No musical experience and just bored? CCSC 2008, in coordination with CCSC and ESC, introduces to you an opportunity to put your creative energy to good use. Become a part of Columbia tradition by submitting your own Columbia “Tailgate Song” to the Lions Tailgate Song Competition! The winning song will be unveiled during halftime at the Spirit Day final home football game against Yale on October 29th, 2005 and the winner will receive a prize to be determined. Three finalists, who will also receive prizes, will be selected to have their songs published online and voted on by all classes of Columbia College and SEAS.

The Spirit Song receiving the most votes will be presented at halftime during the October 29th game, displayed on screen, printed in the official game programme and become a fixture in future Columbia Lions culture. Questions about the contest and submissions should be sent to [email protected] or [email protected] before the October 15 submission deadline. Group submissions, multiple entries and all types of music are welcome. Good luck!
