JOIN COLUMBIA BIG BUDDY AND BE A MENTOR!
COLUMBIA BIG BUDDY is an opportunity for
upperclassmen to share their experiences with
the freshman class while going on FREE trips:
Broadway shows, dinners, and other events. You
can help first years become acclimated with
Columbia life and New York City through
individualized mentor pairings! It's lots of fun
and a real help for first year students. There
are already 50 students participating but our
first event was so successful that we want to
open the program to as many as people as
possible.

Want to Become an RA?
Applications, application instructions, and
position descriptions will be available starting
Monday, October 31st either on-line for
downloading ( http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/resprograms/working/)
or in Lerner 515. The deadline for the
applications is Monday, December 5th at 5 PM (to
be handed in Lerner 515). We will have
informational sessions on Wednesday, November
2nd at 8 PM in Wallach Lounge and Monday,
November 14th at 7 PM in Schapiro Lounge.
(Note, some posters indicate that the second
informational session is on November 7th, but it
has been changed to the 14th). Come meet
current RAs and CPAs to find out more about the
positions!

President Bollinger’s Council!
This
year, President Bollinger created the Council on
Student Affairs. The council meets with the
President and the Provost three times a year to
bring important community matters and other
issues of student concern directly to their
attention. Also, the council is designed to
supplement other interactions between the
President, the Provost, and students throughout
the year. The CCSC was asked to nominate three
CC students to President Bollinger and Provost
Brinkley, who will then select the final member.
If
you are interested in this incredible
opportunity and feel up to the responsibility, I
encourage you to apply for this position. You

From
these submissions, five finalists will be
selected for interviews, and it will be narrowed

Getting Started for 1st Years and Sophomores
November 2, 2005 from 4:00pm EST to 5:00pm EST
Center for Career Education-Conference Room This
workshop will introduce you to the programming
and services offered by the Center for Career
Education. Participants will learn more about
CCE, be introduced to career planning and career
exploration and
understand more about how to use their time at
Columbia to best effect. Issues addressed will
be the value of internships, the benefits of
participating in CU clubs and societies and
other extra-curricular activities and an
introduction to how the skills gained at
Columbia are used in the workplace.

militant peasant horrors of the mid-1970s and
the subsequent struggles of the Cambodian

adoption of Cambodian orphans, followed by a
