Hey all,
In the last week, CCSC 2008 has been
extremely active. After many of you
reported that vending machine swipe access
was not functioning, I brought those
concerns to Housing and Dining. Swipe access
should be more or less completely restored.
Please let me know if there are any
machines in the dorms where it is not.
Additionally, thanks to so many of you for
your reports about music practice spaces.
Your suggestions translate into real action.
We will keep you up-to-date on
developments. A complete report of the
conditions, etc. of all the practice spaces
should be done and ready for administrator
viewing within the next couple days.
We had a great Tea Party for the class in
McBain last week and Glass House Rocks was
awesome.
Finally, I am collecting feedback about the
proposed Barnard Flash Access policy to
allow Columbia and Barnard undergraduates
the ability to sign themselves into each
other’s dorms. After reading up on the
policy online (Search the Spectator) Please
let me know what you think.
I hope to see you all at our upcoming
Valentine’s Day event on Tuesday (See #2).
Best,
Isaac Silverman

1. (CC2008) Talks with Professors in Your
Areas of Interest
As the major declaration deadline for CC
approaches (it’s right around the corner on
March 2nd), CCSC 2008 is organizing a series
of one-hour talks with professors in
popular majors for sophomores only. These
talks won’t focus on degree requirements,
but rather on a discussion of issues that
the professors find interesting in
their field and where they anticipate the
field progressing in the next decade or so.
The idea behind these talks is to give you
an idea of what to expect from your chosen
major in the future as well as the
opportunity to ask questions to a
knowledgeable source. Space is limited, so
if you’re interested, please register by
sending an email indicating which talk you
would like to attend to
[email protected]
. Refreshments will be served. Scheduled (so
far):
