Dear Seniors,
I hope this week is going well. If you need a break from Butler, or some munchies to get you energized, stop by our Senior Study Break tonight in the Broadway Sky Lounge at 10pm for a late night breakfast. We'll have your favorite John Jay waffle makers with all the toppings, bagels, fruit, coffee, and more.
And if you need a different kind of pick me up, take a minute to read this week's College Years, written by your elected class rep, Scott Hughes. Also check out his farewell Spectator Column from this week ( http://www.columbiaspectator.com/?q=node/28564). I'd like to congratulate Scott, and all of our early Class of 2008 graduates!
Best,
Neda

1. The College Years ...
At the beginning of sophomore year, arriving on campus early for
NSOP, I met a random acquaintance outside the steps of McBain as I
walked to pick up my keys from Housing. Immediately, I dropped my
heavy bags and hugged the person heartily. "It's so good to see you,"
I said. "How was your summer?"
The person was probably shocked by my enthusiasm, but I didn't care.
In that moment, I was so happy to be back on campus--back in this
wonderful city--that I would have probably hugged a groundskeeper if I
had seen him first.
Like many of my friends, I have always been eager to hurry back to
campus each year, ready to begin a fresh slate of experiences and
encounters. Each summer I spent away from Morningside only helped to
reinforce how much I relished being in the Columbia community, and how
much I enjoyed living amongst its people.
So as I look back on my college life in the years to come, I hope to
picture Columbia as it stands during that first glorious week in
September: the time when students are freshly removed from summer
break, without the strain of classes, and filled with hope for what
the new year might bring.

3. Letter from the Yearbook Editor
Hi Seniors! As the fall semester of senior year is coming to an end I want you to think about the last four years, and in particular how you want to capture and remember your time here.
Let me know if you want to join the yearbook. This is a book for you and should represent a culmination of your time at Columbia. All College and SEAS students are welcome to join the staff as page editors, section editors, photographers, writers, etc. Just let me know how you are interested in getting involved in any capacity.
Also, if you have taken pictures of events or hanging out around campus, please let me know if you are interested in submitting them to the yearbook. It will be a great help in getting pictures that include the entire class.
Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing your input, feedback, and involvement.

5. Flex Off-Campus Locations Survey
Our friend Flex is moving off campus--and we're happy for him! Lucky
for you, you get to have a say in where he goes. He's almost ready
for his bold and brave new adventure, but he doesn't really know where
he should be. What grocery store should he be in? Which pizza shop?
These are all questions we had when we arrived here for the first
time, so please be kind to our friend and give him some guidance.
CCSC and ESC have been working very hard to ready him for the big move
this spring. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact
Michelle Diamond (CCSC, [email protected]) or Peter Valeiras (ESC,
[email protected] ). Please fill out the Off-Campus Flex Survey
(http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=UAA6ev2fGwYnB1R_2b0b7w9w_3d_3d )
to tell us where you want to be able to find him in our neighborhood.
Thanks!
