E-mail #13 - Sent February 5th, 2008

http://www.columbia.edu/cu/cc2008/

Dear Seniors,

Number one, congratulations: you officially brought back the West End.
OK, perhaps that's a bit ambitious, but it's a nice start.

Number two, we are throwing an Election Results Watch Party tonight at
Radio Perfecto. Brush up on those political debating skills and join
the senior class for dinner (quesadillas, chicken fingers, nachos,
wings, calamari) at 8pm.

Number three, this website is amazing:
http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/events/gradzone/. The GradZone
website has a lot of information for you and your families about the
various graduation events. There is also a graduation checklist, info
on Class Day awards, the yearbook, senior portraits, etc, etc. It is
wonderful. Also, please note that registration for housing in Carman
(for your families) opens in mid-February.

Happy Super Tuesday!

Best,
Neda

4. SENIOR FUND

Website: http://www.college.columbia.edu/alumni/giving/seniorfund/

E-mail: ccseniorfund@columbia.edu

What is Senior Fund?

A way to give back, a way to show that Columbia has become an
invaluable part of your life, and a way for you to acknowledge that
your four years here was worth all the labor. DID YOU KNOW? Your
tuition at Columbia covers LESS than TWO-THIRDS of what it costs to be
a student here -- donations from people like you make up the
difference. By giving back even a dollar to the Senior Fund, you
demonstrate your appreciation. Whether it's from everything that
you've learned here or everyone that you've met here, giving back to
the Senior Fund is a powerful demonstration of your investment in
Columbia's future.

What can I do?

The Senior Fund gives you the option to direct where your donation
goes -- financial aid, student affairs, core curriculum, internship
(Stipend Fund), or an unrestricted fund -- and allows you to make a
donation in honor of a Columbia professor, administrator, or staff
member who has inspired you here.

How can I give to the Fund?

http://www.college.columbia.edu/alumni/giving/seniorfund/
or send an e-mail to ccseniorfund@columbia.edu

We look forward to your continued support of our Columbia!

8. Columbia University's Project for the Homeless

Founded and co-sponsored by Hillel, staffs two homeless shelters in
Manhattan during the week. Individuals or pairs of volunteers, stay
overnight essentially as supervisors. The shelters are located at New
York Society for Ethical Culture (women's shelter, 64th St. at Central
Park West) and Stephen Wise Free Synagogue (men's shelter, 68th St.
between Columbus and Central Park West) . They are small shelters
serving 10-12 people each. These folks are clean, most have jobs, and
many are on the verge of breaking out of the cycle of homelessness.
They need our help, especially during this inclement weather. Without
a volunteer present during the night, the shelters must shut down
according to the law. Even one night without the comfort of a bed and
roof could set these people back in their efforts to recover. You
could sign up for a single date during the entire semester, or
multiple dates if desired. Bring a friend, a movie, some music, or
just plain work to pass the night while helping change lives. Learn
more and sign up easily online at http://www.columbia.edu/cu/pfh/ !
