Geoff K. Ward

A native of Los Angeles, Geoff K. Ward holds degrees in sociology from Hampton University (B.A., 1994) and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (Ph.D., 2001). He has published on diverse topics relating to race and social organization, including skin tone stratification and black
intellectual history.  His current research and teaching focus on intersections of race, crime, and justice, including the racialization of juvenile justice, race and representation in justice administration, and collateral consequences of criminal justice policy.  During the past two years, Dr. Ward held a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Vera Institute of Justice, and was coordinator of the Africana Criminal Justice Project at Columbia University's Institute for Research in African-American Studies.  He is presently an assistant professor in the College of Criminal Justice at Northeastern University.
