Discovery Center at Columbia University works with over 1,000 low-income and first generation college Manhattan area youth and young adults age 12 through 27 each year to ensure academic skills building and focus, high school graduation, college entrance and completion, and responsible adulthood.
The Center offers an array of on-campus and community-based services designed to close gaps in education, information and achievement. Our priority is to serve children who are both low-income and first-generation college, and who live or attend school in the Borough of Manhattan.
Our formula for success is to:
- Maximize after-school, weekend, and summer learning and enrichment
- Provide safe and supportive surroundings to increase skills and the motivation to learn
- Surround youngsters with accomplished people who model positive values and integrity
