During the strike regular classes were to be boycotted and students were not supposed to go into the buildings. In any case, regular classes were canceled for the rest of the term. Friendly faculty (and others, such as peace activists and union organizers) gave "Liberation classes" on the lawns in front of the classroom buildings, usually discussing issues that were relevant to the strike. Other faculty who who required students to complete their coursework to earn a P conducted classes on the lawn too, or in their apartments, or other places. I confess, I completed one of my classes for a professor who insisted on it: Linguistics professor Erica García, only because I had a lot of respect for her in spite of her opposition to the strike; she was one of the best teachers I ever had.
