Pepsi was sold in the USSR but not Coke (there is a movie about this). I have a Cyrillic ПЕПСИ bottlecap somewhere.... One day on the street we saw a long line (not uncommon in Moscow); it was for Pepsi, which was in a gigantic barrel, like a 55-gallon drum. When you arrive at the head of the line, you pay a few Kopeks, the previous customer hands you the cup, you dip it in the barrel, drain it, and pass it back it to the next in line.
