ABOUT THE COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY MANUFACTURING ASSOCIATION
The rise of modern industry has led mankind into the most developed age in history. New advances in technology in conjuction with the decline in natural resources have led to more competitive, leaner, cost-effective methods of manufacturing. As competition increases in a global manufacturing economy, manufacturing will need to be quicker, cheaper, and more resourceful.

The purpose of the Columbia University Manufacturing Association is to analyze the manufacturing industry in general, furthering members� knowledge across a broad spectrum of manufacturing issues including but not limited to: manufacturing plants, warehousing, shipping, technology, sales, etc. We strive to delve into the depths of the manufacturing enterprise and further our expertise of this amazing, business-oriented sector. We dedicate ourselves to becoming better manufacturers and manufacturing consultants by learning from others in the industry, from touring facilities, and by examining better practices.

CUMA has partnered with various businesses and regional chambers of commerce around the greater New York and New Jersey area. We work closely with the executive directors of the chambers and a range of business/manufacturing development organizations to find suitable and worthwhile manufacturing operations to examine, tour, and analyze. The implications of advanced technology with repect to yield improvements, cost reductions and productivity increases are things with which CUMA is heavily involved. You will find that small improvements on core business processes lead to a stronger, more profitable company.
