  4. OVERDUE NOTICES

Overdue notices contain brief bibliographic data identifying the overdue item and a message informing the patron of the fine policy.

  5. FINAL NOTICE

The final notice is for staff use only. It is a record of an overdue item that is still checked-out, needs to be searched, and if not found, will be considered by CLIO to be "not returned." Do not mail the final notice to the patron.

  6. NRTN AND NOWD ITEM CONDITIONS

    1. NRTN means "not returned by patron." This item condition is set automatically by CLIO according to the schedules above.

    2. NOWD means "not returned by patron; do not withdraw." This item condition is used by some units for faculty loans. It must be set manually; do not remove the NRTN condition.

    3. The OPAC message generated by both of these item conditions is the same: Not Returned by Patron.

  7. NRTN CONDITION SET AND BILL CREATED

CLIO generates a bill when it sets the NRTN condition for items which are checked-out to a patron. The bill indicates the total amount owed by the patron, including the replacement fee and lost item charge. After the NRTN condition is set, the item continues to be checked-out to the patron and appears as "billed" in the Patron Has index Status field.

  8. NRTN/NOT FOUND LISTS

These are lists of items with the NRTN condition set. They are produced quarterly.

    1. SEARCH LIST -- Contains items with NRTN condition set for 90-179 days. This list is not cumulative.

    2. SELECTOR LIST -- Contains items with NRTN condition set for 180-269 days. This list is not cumulative.

    3. WITHDRAW LIST -- Contains items with NRTN condition set for 270-359 days. This list is cumulative.

    Day 390 -- NRTN/Not Found Withdraw List

  10. MISSING PSEUDOPATRON

Missing items are defined as items which are not checked-out to any patron or pseudopatron and cannot be found. If an item is determined to be missing, check-out the item to the MISSING pseudopatron. CLIO sets the NRTN condition for items which are checked-out to this pseudopatron according to the schedule above. After the NRTN condition is set, the item continues to be checked-out to the MISSING pseudopatron.
