Lost and Missing

USING THE LOST/MISSING WITHDRAW LIST

  1. BACKGROUND

The Lost/Missing Withdraw List includes all items that were on the last Lost/Missing Withdraw List which have not been acted on in CLIO. The report includes all items that have already "aged" on the Lost/Missing Action List for 90 days, during which time selectors and bibliographers had the opportunity to designate items for replacement. Therefore, all items on this list are assumed to be designated for withdrawal from the collection.

  2. LOST/MISSING WITHDRAW LIST SCHEDULE

The first Lost/Missing Withdraw List will cover items appearing on the Lost/Missing Action List for October 1, 1992-December 31, 1992. It will be issued quarterly thereafter (following the Lost/Missing Action List by three months). Each list will be non-cumulative.

  3. LOST/MISSING WITHDRAW LIST SCOPE

All items that remain on the Lost/Missing Action List for an entire quarter will appear the following quarter on the Lost/Missing Withdraw List.

  4. PROCEDURES

Follow the DCMM procedures for withdrawing items. Because the list is non-cumulative and quarterly, an effort should be made to withdraw items within 90 days after the report is issued in order to keep CLIO records up to date. Since the report is not cumulative, if it is not possible to withdraw the items within 90 days after the report is issued, retain the report for future use.
