Temporary Locations

PLACING AN ITEM IN A NON-RESERVES TEMPORARY LOCATION

  1. CAUTION: When placing an item on reserves, follow the DCMM procedures for placing an item in a reserves temporary location.

  2. PURPOSE

  3. PROCEDURES

    Search CLIO for the item being shelved in the temporary location. Search by ITEM ID, if known, or by call number or title.

    1. IF AN ITEM RECORD IS FOUND:

      1. Follow CLIO Manual procedures for temporary locations. Be sure to determine whether the item is a single volume monograph or is from a monographic set or serial in order to follow the correct CLIO Manual procedures.

      2. Have a spine label with the temporary location produced if needed.

    2. IF AN ITEM RECORD IS NOT FOUND -- Barcode the item following procedures in the Barcode Placement Document.

      1. MONOGRAPHS

        Determine whether a copy holdings record exists for the copy being processed.

        1. If a copy holdings record exists for the copy being processed -- Determine whether a copy statement exists for the copy being processed.

          1. If a copy statement exists for the copy being processed:

            1. Create a linked item record following CLIO Manual procedures.

            2. Follow the steps in III.A. above.

          2. If a copy statement exists for another copy:

            1. Follow the DCMM procedures for correcting added copy information.

            2. Create a linked item record following CLIO Manual procedures.

            3. Follow the steps in III.A. above.

        2. If no copy holdings record exists for the copy being processed:

          1. Create an unlinked item record following CLIO Manual procedures.

          2. Follow the steps in III.A. above.

      2. SERIALS

        1. Create an unlinked item record following CLIO Manual procedures.

        2. Follow the steps in III.A. above.
