Receiving Items
STAND ALONE CDs
PURPOSE
receiving CDs that are issued by themselves (i.e., they do not accompany a book)
THE PROCEDURE BELOW DOES NOT APPLY TO
Music CDs cataloged for location MSR which are routed directly to the Music Library after cataloging
CDs that are cataloged as a "Network" resource for the CD-ROM LAN
DVDs
BACKGROUND
Before sending the CD to the departmental library, Central Technical Services staff follow the procedures in
Cataloging Practices Manual CPM-850
.
Then, Binding Shelf Prep (BSP)
treats as Priority 1
prints label with location and call number
compares location and call number on label with location and call number on T2 form
affixes call number label to upper left of OUTSIDE of jewel case front
places CD in inter-office envelope addressed to owning location (one or more title may be sent per envelope)
ships to owning location in envelope via Shipping Room
PROCEDURES
Check-in the CD from the LABL pseudopatron.
Store the CD according to local guidelines.
