Subject: RE: New E-Resources prototype

HTML Specs:
1. Society and Publisher. other listings where the citations are grouped
under headings
2. Getting HTML formatting to work across all browsers (Dmitri)
3. Advanced search form (Dmitri and Tanya)
4. other ;) ... in other words, the amorphous stuff that we've brainstormed
on in past meetings

Database (David):
1. optimize for performance - indexes, etc
2. schema changes depending on new output specs
3. subject keywords might have problems
searching for SCIENCE in rtype=DB picks up 'Abstracts of Rand documents'
but adding 'documents' to query does not pick it up. and in HTML debug
comment in fact documents is not in there
4. rewrite scripts for fill eresources tables. esp. so that they can be
incrementally/partially updated

Programming (David):
1. clean it up, make it better
2. and obviously new spec changes will generate new programming tasks
3. break out more stuff into static templates for easier editing (Dmitri is
currently working on the results template)
4. find way to enhance templating systems so nested loops are possible

I asked Tanya about how to go about modeling interface and output screens
(wire-frame drawings and such)--for both purposes of development and
documentation. seems like good chance for gaining experience working with
such. Tanya has mentioned Visio and Rational Rose as possible power tools
for such work.
btw, i never got around to calling Popkins about extra license for John,
sorry...i think this is their number if maybe John wants to venture calling
them: 800 732-5227 ex 428. they have proven diffult to nail down for
support, but maybe for a new license the response will be more prompt.

see you all in september!
