THE FRIENDS OF THE COLUMBIA LIBRARIES
AN OPPORTUNITY
The Friends assist the Columbia Libraries in several direct ways: first, through their active
interest in the institution and its ideals and through promoting public interest in the role of
a research library in education; second, through gifts of book.s. manuscripts, and other
useful materials; and third, through financial contributions.
By helping preser\'e the intellectual accomplishment ofthe past, we lay the foundation
for the university ofthe future. Thisi.s the primary purpose ofthe Friends ofthe Columbia
Libraries.
CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
Regular; S75 per year Patron; $300 per year
Sustaining: $150 per year Benefactor; 3500 or more per year
A special membership is available to acti\'e or retired Columbia staff members at fifty
dollars per year.
Contribution.s are income rax deductible.
