Cerf:

Hamish is today a very important English publisher and married very happily.

That was Anatole Litvak that she flirted with at the rail. As soon as the boat landed, she called me up. She had another beau. By this time I was getting bored with her damned beaux. They changed too fast. But we made a date to have dinner together at the Maisonette, which is downstairs in the St. Regis Hotel. They specialize in Russian dishes. That's where I met Tola. He proved to be delightful.

Miriam later led him a terrible dance. They were married I think. I don't remember whether they got married or not. Tola is one of these charming men who likes to suffer. He always gets involved with girls who break his heart. He always recovers very quickly, however!

Cerf:

He did The Amazing Doctor Clitterhouse and Sorry, Wrong Number, which were big successes. The latest picture that he has done is called The Night of the Generals. It's about to be released.

Tola, when I married Phyllis, became a friend of the family then. Phyllis loves him. He's got that Russian charm. During the War, he became a very valuable man for the United States. He became a major in the United States Army. A very naive man--I remember his coming to our home and telling us that he was going on a mission for the United States. He
