Q:

How about starting with your public stock issue? We haven't discussed that at all.

Cerf:

I'll devote the whole morning to this. Donald Klopfer, Bob Haas and I, as I think I told you, owned this business together and did ever since 1936 when Haas joined us. Then, when Haas retired...

Q:

Was it thirty-three and a third each?

Cerf:

Yes.

Q:

How did he go about...? Did he pay you a certain amount of money? How did you get that originally?

Cerf:

Yes. Well, he contributed his business, Smith and Haas. I'm trying to remember what year that was--and if he invested additional cash at the time.

Q:

We have that already on tape.

Cerf:

He retired in 1956. He came in about 1936. Bob Haas in 1956 decided that he wanted to retire and do philanthropic
