Cerf:

Well, we grumble about it; but they don't really bother us. In fact, sometimes I wonder if they know that they own us. They are so seldom around.

Q:

I mean your bookkeeping system has to fit into the RCA bookkeeping system.

Cerf:

A good thing, too. Our bookkeeping system was dreadful. It still is a mess.

Q:

What about budgets? I mean, now, this is a big corporation and...

Cerf:

All of these things are nuisances that our people have to contend with. “Finance meetings” are endless. I don't pay any attention to them.

Q:

You're not directly affected by them yourself, but this is something that is...

Cerf:

You're talking about minor irritations. Certainly these things are a nuisance. A lot of the goings-on in big business are ludicrous. The board of directors, for instance, is usually a lot of poops sitting around and saying aye. That's about all we do at RCA directors‘meetings. I'm used to the MGM directors‘meetings, which I'll tell you about before we finish, where, at every meeting, somebody called somebody else a dirty crook and was usually right. Those meetings were fun,
