space to stories about famous authors I have known like William Faulkner, Eugene O'Neill, James Joyce, Sinclair Lewis, Gertrude Stein, Dr. Seuss, John O'Hara, Robert Penn Warren, Truman Capote, William Styron and Philip Roth.

Within the past few months I have diversified my interests by accepting Directorships in The Bedside Network, Raffles Club and Valentine Smith. The latter is a new enterprise dreamed up by my son Chris, along with other young dynamos like George Plimpton, Bill Harbach, Dick Schaap and Andy Wald. Their prime objective at this time is to produce educational cassettes which may, in the next decade, be almost as big a business as radio or television. I am proud that my son Chris wanted me to be with him in this venture. While he is devoting himself to this and to “Sesame Street,” my younger son Jonathan has taken unto himself a bride named Roseanne, and is teaching presently in the Public School System of New York. I hope that one day Jonathan will be an important textbook publihser, and the experience he is getting in a tough New York public school should be invaluable.

I have been a lucky, lucky man!
