have this question of a permit. So the day that you have your parade up there, you take pictures before, and you take pictures after in Central Park. And then you're going to be able to produce the evidence that there was or there was not damage. Because if there is damage to the park, they should pay for it. “And I'm telling you now [and I said this to them in person, and I don't remember whether I said it in the letters] next year I'm not going to argue your case for you if there is damage.”

Well, of course, they didn't take pictures, and there was damage, says the Parks Department, and this year they're going to ask them for bond, and I am not going to oppose the requirement of the bond.

Oh, the last line on that, and then I'll stop the story; I straightened it all out -- get the permit for them for Christopher Street, get the Parks Department not to have a bond, and then suddenly they say, “Now, look, we don't know why it is we have to march up 6th Avenue. We want 5th Avenue.” I said, “I'm leaving -- goodbye.” (laughs) And I got up and left them with that one, because that's the nature of activism. You make your point, you win your battle and then you go on and you try to get another notch up, and that's what they're trying to do, because 5th Avenue is prestigious, and that's what they would like to do if they could. So that's the story.
