I'm against the war, too, Allen, but just because we're against the war, do we also have to say that they're selling heroin?” Well, he was right! The Vietnamese generals were selling heroin. (laughs) He was ahead of his time. That's all I know about Allen Ginsberg.

Q:

These were the only involvements in any community affairs that you were involved in that he also was involved in.

Koch:

Yes.

Q:

Let me come back on one detail on the 6th Police Precinct. Do I recall correctly that later on it was patrolmen and maybe higher-ups of that precinct that were caught literally carrying out carcases from the wholesale meat market over on 8th Avenue or Hudson?

Koch:

Yes, that's true. That's not so long ago. That's maybe three, four years ago is my recollection. I don't think it's so long ago. That's exactly correct. They were caught taking out meat from the meat market.

Q:

You could call it the meat heist.

Koch:

That's correct. And on MacDougal Street earlier in the
