Q:

Did she express herself in any way that came to you?

Lasker:

Oh, yes, she did, and I have some notes on it which I'll pick up later.

In addition to this increase in appropriations, we were interested in a bill called “Aid to Medical Education Bill,” which seemed to have the blessing of the AMA with some minor changes, and the Hill-Bridges research construction bill, and a mental health survey resolution presented by Hill, and 29 other sponsors, to the Senate. This has had a very important effect as of now, 1963, this mental health survey resolution.

Q:

This is the sort of thing that the Lasker Foundation does all the time, isn't it? this mental health survey.

Lasker:

Yes, it is, but actually they went into more detail, state by state, that we did. They went into, oh, what are the resources of counties, and what are the resources of the veterans in mental illness; they went into much more detail.

I was afraid, although Florence and I got most of the 29
