but I haven't heard from them. We had a charming visit with them. And then we joined the President and Senator Magnusson and Karl Albert and his wife and Bill White and his wife and Marion Means and several other people, and we went on the Presidential yacht which was used by the Kennedys and called the Honey Fitz for a cruise in the Potomac. It was a fantastically hot and humid night and the water made one just barely comfortable. The President was obviously exhausted for a strenuous day and he bat on one of these special chairs that he has tilted back and after dinnor fell sound asleep, to everyone's delight because we realized that he was really relaxes and must have been desperately in need of rest. Everyone continued to talk and he was sleeping, but as soon as he woke up be felt very refreshed and started to tease Lady Bird and me about various people that were friends of ours. I went back to the White House that night to spend the night.

The next day the President asked me to lunch with him but I couldn't because I had a luncheon date with Senator Hill to talk to him about the state of health legislation. Actually I went back to the white House at two o'clock and had visit with the President alone for a few minutes and talked to him again about the need for centers for advanced study in major universities and for the creation of task forces in connection
