drugs which were less toxic, along the same line, and also other drugs with other chemical structures which worked. And there are now anti-depressant drugs in large numbers and there are psychic energizers, and many, many people are able to be out of state hospitals and many people are able to lead more active and happier lives because of these.
And I say that it's a great blessing due to Dr. Klein. Dr. Klein never had sufficient recognition for the discovery of Marsalid as an anti-depressant.
What's his present occupation?
He's still the head of research at Rockland State Hospital and because he has made these two important contributions which ran counter to the views of many psychiatrists and many psychoanalysts, he's had great difficulty in obtaining funds from the National Mental Health Institute, because there's always a tendency to have people who are considered rather conservative sitting on the Councils and they pass on the requests for grants and something or other than Klein says or does doesn't seem orthodox or proper to them. so they have been very difficult about his appropriations.
Now, Mike Gorman is on the Mental Health Council at last and he and several friends are hoping that they'll get him a center grant so that he'll be better financed. The State has never financed him very well either.
