Lasker:

Well, but the same ones won't know how to do it. Isn't that terrible? It's a terrible thing to say, isn't it?

Q:

Well, it's a little bit on the cynical side.

Lasker:

But it's true.

Q:

Tell mex about the March meeting of the Advisory Board. You sit on that, do you not?

Lasker:

You mean the one that's forthcoming?

Q:

The one last year. The National Cancer Advisory Board, you sit on that, don't youj?

Lasker:

Yes. Well, I've been to three or four or five of them since then. I don't have any specific recollection of what happened in March. It's true that the Board passed a resolution objecting to the elimination of training grants in cancer research, and that --

Q:

That was in March of '73?

Lasker:

Yes, and urged that the Cancer Panel, advisor to the President, try to get the funds back again. Now, the funds have been restored to some extent, but not to their full extent.

Q:

Does this mean that as a result of this resolution, some action was taken?

Lasker:

Oh, yes.

Q:
