Part:         Session:         Page of 999

suddenly I saw a huge thing like that, like a spider.

Q:

Tarantula?

Lasker:

Yes. And it disappeared. I could never find it, but it absolutely terrorized me to find this thing in this room.

Q:

Or was it a scorpion?

Lasker:

I don't know, but it was huge, like that. That's the trouble with those places. When you see an iguana walk across the road, it really makes you think, what are you doing there?

Q:

Yes, but the tropical vegetation and the view of the harbor, I think is exquisite.

Lasker:

Oh, it's wonderful. Isn't it marvelous? Well, then, I really had a marvelous spring in Beverly Hills for really about seven weeks.

Q:

You rented a house there?

Lasker:

I rented a house, a small house. Had a beautiful view and a good hot swimming pool, which I liked. And my sister came, Mrs. Hoffman [Anna Rosenberg] came, and Mrs. Blair came, and we had lovely parties given in our honor by various people, including Mrs. Bloomingdale. And I have many, many pleasant friends like Kirk Douglas, Mrs. Danny Kaye. And oh, it changes life completely, to be out there for a little while. It's another world entirely.

Q:

You've been doing this for --?
