Last year you had it? I think I have a new one to show you. It's marvelously beautiful, but I also feel that the most important thing that could be done would be to make it a center for research conferences between the British and the Americans, and the Europeans and British and Americans.

Q:

An interchange of ideas?

Lasker:

Yes, an interchange of ideas.

But as I remember it, you told me

You were talking about the proximity of Leeds Castle to London, the availability of the city. But I wanted to make this point, that Paul Fejos (Wenner-Gren Foundation), who had this castle in Austria for anthropology and conferences in the field of anthropology, made one point that I thought was very valid. He said that he thought the conferences accomplished so much more when people could not get into a city, when they couldn't, the blandishments --

Lasker:

When they couldn't go to the theater?

Q:

They couldn't go to the theater. They had to stay there, because they were out in the country, they were on a mountaintop, and their comforts were taken care of. So I wondered about Leeds Castle.

Lasker:

Well, you could have a very good conference between people
