Well, I think probably Bible and Byrd and Magnusson went along. That of course did not mean that we had any money out of the House yet. We begged the sertors to hold fast and not give this money . In a bill as big as the HEW bill of 19 billion dollars, we thought they ought to be able to hold this 40 million dollars for these two major causes of death. Now, they split it again. The final conference figure was 15 million for the Heart Institute and 5 million dollars for Neurology and Stroke. The bill has not been finally passed in the Senate yet because Magnusson is holding it up as some leverage so that he can get his SST bill more the way he wants it. As you know, he comes from the state of Washington, and SST is a vital thing to the Boeing Aircraft Co., who haven't got enough jobs for people, and this as a matter of fact would be an airplane that would keep us competitive in the world of fast transportation. Otherwise we really won't be.
I take it you're a supporter of the SST.
Well, I don't like the noise and I don't like the problem of -- well, it's really a noise factor. But I think that in a world that is as hostile to, segments of the world are so hostile to each other, that the only way that you have any chance of survival is to have equipment that's superior. This is a major form of equipment. Whether it's used as a bomber or whether it's used as a passenger plane to transport people or troops or material, it's a major new step in fast transportation, and we probably really can't afford to be behind other countries, which we are now.
