ARTICLES #7, THE CRITIC, has received a Consumer Magazine Merit Award from the Art Directors Club. This 2002 issue of the National Arts Journalism Program's annual journal was published under the art direction of John Klotnia, Opto Design, and was designed by Peggy Chapman, former publications manager of the NAJP. The Critic was selected from over 1,500 entries and will be included in the Art Directors Annual (No. 82) and featured in the ADC 82nd Annual Awards Exhbition and Traveling Exhibition.

A wide-ranging look at the role of the art critic, this issue included pieces by 2001-02 NAJP fellows including Charles Aaron, music editor, Spin; Wendy Lesser, editor and publisher, The Threepenny Review; Adam Langer, senior editor, Book; and Joseph Horowitz, author, journalist and artistic consultant on classical music.
