The symposium is presented by the Alliance for the Arts and the National Arts Journalism Program. In attendance will be arts leaders, funders, academics, journalists and policy-makers to discuss the ever-changing partnership between public and private funding sources.

Topics include:

· Updated information on arts funding sources and trends for the year 2001
· Release of the results of the post-September 11th survey of the field conducted by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts
· How committed are the state and federal governments to the arts?
· Is New York City giving enough to the arts?
· What is the future of philanthropic support for the cultural community?
· What role will the arts play in the economic rebuilding of New York?

Among the speakers will be New York Historical Society president Kenneth T. Jackson, A Cultural Blueprint for New York City director Kinshasha Holman Conwill, and Harvey Lichtenstein, chairman of the Brooklyn Academy of Music Local Development Corporation.
