ATHLETES AS ART The department of Intercollegiate Athletics presents an exhibition of photographs entitled "Columbia University Athletics through the Lens of Arthur Frank." The photographs depict various teams in competition and practice, and the exhibit is an homage to past and present Columbia athletes. Frank, a practicing lawyer and a 1956 alumnus of Columbia College, has won awards at the Salmagundi Club's annual juried exhibition and in the 1998 Maine Photography Workshop's Ernst Hass competition. The exhibition can be seen between 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, in Low Rotunda. |

6:30-9:30 P.M. Panel Discussion on History of Kosovo. Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs will host a panel discussion on the history of Kosovo with leading authors on the Balkans. Noel Malcolm, author of "Kosovo: A Short History," will be the keynote speaker. Panelists include: Branimir Anzulovic, author of "Heavenly Serbia"; Peter Witonski, a Balkan analyst, and Hansjoerg Strohmeyer of the United Nations. The event is co-sponsored by the Vatra Education Foundation, the Albanian Society, the Institute on East Central Europe, and the International Conflict Resolution Program at Columbia, with the Organization of Albanian Students at Pace University and the Albanian American Teachers Committee. 8:30 A.M-5:00 P.M. Employee Wellness Day. The department of Human Resources, in conjunction with the department of Health and Related Services, invites all University employees to the 12th Annual Wellness Day. The event will include live music, healthy snacks and many tips for improving and maintaining your health. Specific health checks will include: blood pressure, cholesterol screening, dental screening, sugar (glucose) level determination, hearing evaluation, glaucoma testing, body fat determination, skin examination and podiatry screening. Special this year is a focus on women's health education. There will be women's health care specialists available all day to provide information and to answer your questions on such issues as Pap smears, menopause, contraception, pregnancy and child-birthing options, and breast health. Referral lists of facilities that provide free and low-cost mammograms will also be available. Educational Information and Counseling will include: nutrition, smoking-cessation, testicular self-exam, depression and anxiety, tuberculosis, Hepatitis A, B and C, diabetes, cancer prevention, AIDS/HIV and integrated medicine options. Additional services include massage therapy and fitness training. Human Resources and health insurance representatives will be able to provide information and answer questions about Columbia's health benefits. The Wellness Walk/Run (5 kilometer/2.5 kilometer) will begin at 8:00 A.M. at the sundial in the center of campus. All other events take place in and around John Jay Hall.
