| As Stevie Wonder, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solos: Jason, Gita |
||
A
Stevie Wonder classic, and Josh's first arrangement for the group. We
often close a concert with this song, one of our favorites. |
||
| Beautiful
Day U2, arr. E. Reid (C '05) Solo: Josh |
||
This
is Ellen's first arrangement ever for Nonseq. And it rocks, like, so hard
core, you have no idea. Unless of course you've been to one of our concerts. |
||
| Britney
Spears Medley Britney Spears, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Ellen, Jenny, Kathryn, Patrick, Emily |
||
This
ambitious arrangement combines five of Britney's greatest hits into one
"crazy" performance piece, proving once and for all that said hits are,
in reality, the same song. Choreographer credit goes to Jason and Ellen
for helping us re-create Britney's signature moves. |
||
| Carol
of the Bells Traditional, arr. Wilhousky |
||
We
added this to sing at the 2001 Tree Lighting ceremony (see our Concerts
page for details). Expect this one to resurface every year around
the holidays. |
||
| Columbia
Chanukah Song Adam Sandler, additional lyrics by J. Moss (C '04), arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Everyone |
||
When
we first got the idea to put a Columbia spin on this holiday tradition,
we had no idea it would get such an overwhelming response. It seems we've
started a tradition of our own... |
||
| Drift
Away Dobie Gray, arr. Anon. Solo: Josh |
||
The
girls get to sit out for this song, inherited from our all-male days.
This is the first song Nonsequitur ever learned, so we hold it very dear
to our hearts. |
||
| Drive Incubus, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solo: Andrew |
||
Andrew's
gotten so good at this solo it's not even funny. And the deans really
love this "complex" arrangement. |
||
| Goodbye
Earl Dixie Chicks, arr. E. Reid (C '05) Solos: Emily, Kathryn |
||
This
song made quite an impression at its debut in the basement of Ruggles.
We plan on performing this satirical country ditty as much as possible,
if only to make Ellen wear that straw hat. |
||
| Hallelujah Leonard Cohen, arr. M. Marcus (E' 04) Solos: Mike, Sally |
||
This
song was recently covered and popularized by Rufus Wainwright for a little
film called "Shrek." Mike's smooth choral arrangement was inspired primarily
by Wainwright's cover. |
||
| Here
with Me Dido, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solo: Rona |
||
Mike's
long-anticipated arrangement finally entered the repertoire in Fall 2001,
after almost a year in the making. It has since become one of our signature
songs. |
||
| If I Had
$1,000,000 Barenaked Ladies, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Mike |
||
This
crazy arrangement features a bunch of soloists and a healthy dose of humour. |
||
| In My
Life Beatles, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solo: Sally |
||
Josh's
interpretation of the New York Voices' jazzy arrangment of the Beatles
classic. We sometimes call up our alumni to sing this with us. |
||
| Let
It Snow 5/4 Sammy Cahn/Jule Styne, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) |
||
This
song was added to pad our holiday repertoire for our concert with the
Orpheus Mens' Chorus in Ridgewood, NJ. "Don't sing along, you'll just
get confused." |
||
| Perfect
Gentleman Wyclef Jean, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solos: Andrew, Sally, Dov, Jason |
||
Four
words: Sally does the rap. |
||
| Poor
Wayfaring Stranger Sweet Deliverance, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Jason, Kathryn |
||
This
spiritual has been Jason's solo since the beginning. It's the simplest
arrangement we know and our tightest song. |
||
| Rock
with You Michael Jackson, A. Schlesinger (C '08) Solo: |
||
Andy's
first arrangment!! |
||
| 'Round
Here Counting Crows, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solo: Andrea |
||
Another
long-anticipated arrangement (well, Andrea kept asking about it), this
one got great feedback after its debut at our 2001
Big Fall Show. |
||
| Santeria Sublime, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solo: Matt |
||
If
you missed Matt's awesome rendition of this Sublime standby at our 2002
Big Fall Show, don't worry; this one's not going anywhere. Punk-ass. |
||
| Skid Row from "Little Shop of Horrors" (Menken/Ashman), arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Rona, Ellen, Gita, Kathryn, Josh |
||
As
far as we know, we are the only a cappella group that does this song.
Period. Minor choreography has been recently added, but Rona's opening
belt solo is still as bitchin' as ever. |
||
| A
Thousand Miles Vanessa Carlton, arr. J. Diamant (C '04) Solo: Alex |
||
Not
to be confused with "Five Hundred Miles" by the Proclaimers, this promises
to be another winner, espeically with newbie Alex singing lead. We're
keeping our fingers crossed for Vanessa to do a guest solo... OK, probably
not gonna happen, but we can dream, right? |
||
| Your Song Ewan McGregor (orig. Elton John), arr. M. Marcus (E '04) and J. Moss (C '04) Solos: Jason, Jackie |
||
The
"other" hit song from Moulin Rouge. Watch out for Jason's (nearly)
flawless high A's and Jackie's amaaazing opera descant. |
||
| Change
the World Eric Clapton and Babyface, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solo: Mike |
We
performed this song exactly once, in Spring 2001 at Java
Jam. Then Mike revised the arrangement and it was never to be seen
again... Maybe some future NSers will have the courage and stamina to
give it another go. |
| Love
Shack B-52's, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solos: Mike, Ellen, Gita |
This
one lasted a good year after our founder Max, the original (and quintessential)
lead soloist, moved on to law school. Consider yourself lucky if you got
to see us do it live, because the Shack is not slated to appear on our
forthcoming CD. |
| Why
Should I Worry Billy Joel, arr. M. Marcus (E '04) Solo: Max |
You'd
know it if you heard it, but trust us -- it was a bad idea from the first.
Max was probably the only one who ever really liked the song. The arrangement
has since become a running inside joke. |
