Officially founded on October 16, 2011, SHARP is Columbia University’s newest all male a cappella group. Created through a process of recruitment and pure faith in the talent on Columbia’s campus, SHARP has grown from two sophomores with a vision to Columbia’s premier a cappella group. SHARP is a group that prides itself on a commitment to producing outstanding and diverse musical experiences for audiences by writing and creating arrangements of popular soul, R&B, classic pop, Motown and Top 40 hits. Current and past Men of SHARP are singers who come from all types of performance backgrounds, ranging from those with none to classical pianists, professional theatre performers, and major label recording artists. The group's firm commitment to maintaining an open and inclusive environment allows SHARP to occupy a special and unique space on campus where an unlikely group of guys can be united by their collective love for producing and performing great music. The quality of SHARP’s arrangements, performers, and concerts, however, is what sets SHARP apart from the other vocal performance groups at Columbia. As the group approaches its two-year anniversary this coming fall, SHARP is enthusiastically looking forward to sharing what they’ve been working on this summer. Get ready…cuz it’s gonna be fantastic!
