THYMALAO. Thimolaus, fl. third century A.D., was one of the sons of Zenobia and Odaenathus of Palmyra. His brother was called Heremianus. Boccaccio says that Zenobia dressed her sons in the regalia and insignia of the Roman emperors, De casibus virorum illustrium liber VIII.6.

The Monk mentions this detail, MkT 2343-2346. [Cenobia: Hermanno]

Since Thymalao occurs in final rhyming position, MkT 2345, its placement may have determined its form.

Boccaccio, De casibus, ed. P.G. Ricci and V. Zaccaria, 678-682.
