to walk towards the building of Katsura this walkway sets the stage for
the simple rustic beauty of the area. There are no gaudy artificial
colors or violently overpowering vistas. In everything can be seen
a refined and simple beauty that does not force itself on the viewer,
but if properly appreciated, can be infinitely rewarding in its subtly.
Note how the unassuming earthen wall provieds the perfect backdrop for
the shadows of the nearby trees and the interplay between the stone mosaic
of the pathway with the smooth texture of the earthen wall.
