Katte
The
Katte is another one-mat area of the Taian. It has one small window, but
the most interesting aspect of the room is the three-tiered shelf in the
South East corner of the room. A thin bamboo pole connects the three shelves,
but the pole reaches neither the ceiling nor the floor. The Katte is also
the only area connected to the main temple. The Taian is one step below
the Temple’s hallway. The inconstant levels of the buildings support the
idea that the Taian was moved from another location. This is an
image of the katte from the anteroom.
