Carnegie Corporation of New York - An Examination of a Current Donor's Website

This is an examination of how well a major donor site performs according to a low bandwidth test, derived from "Web Design by Donor Organizations for Low Bandwidth".

I chose Carnegie Corporation of New York primarily because they offered a “low bandwidth” version of their site, which could be selected in the upper right corner of their page. On the whole, this donor would receive very high marks for its site, from a low bandwidth perspective. While their first page was 280 KB in size, their low bandwidth page with instructions for applying to grants was only 56 KB—by far the best of the sample pages, in this category. Because their links were very clearly marked, I was able to find grant information almost immediately. Once I found the application requirements, rather than present a downloadable application, they chose to just explain how to apply, saving me a download. Their granting process is continuous throughout the year, which was easy to determine, and it was also easy to find recent grants awarded, so it took very little time confirming that the site information was current. Start to finish, getting grant information was quick and easy. (Screenshots of relevant pages below)
