SIOC is a useful tool for local governments and it has proven to be effective in assisting them to find donors that operate in their region, present proposals and actually receive funding, technical assistance or expert’s advice. AME conducts satisfaction surveys every 6 months and from the 220 municipalities. On average 170 municipalities have obtained assistance, and visit SIOC at least twice a month.

Local Governments' Tools for Development

Municipalities in Ecuador have inclusive development strategic plans that reflect their population needs and that prioritize their development strategies. One of AME’s roles is to link municipalities’ priorities with the available funding, that way the local government will develop according to a plan and emphasize their needs.

Providing Technical Assistance

AME provides technical assistance and training in cooperation, grant proposals, donor cultivation and SIOC use and its application through ongoing workshops, online and site visits requested. The workshops are conducted by region, so that municipalities can share experiences and can actually present joint proposals to donors.
