Dear Mom and Dad,
Thanks for listening to me go off the other night. I think John Ashcroft is a dangerous man. In fact, all the whitey whites in the White House are making me feel very uncomfortable. Where is the outrage? I find myself feeling very depressed and angry. I also realize that there are other people in this country including Americans who are feeling depressed and angry too and for the same reasons that I am feeling angry and depressed. It is a probably difficult time to live in this country as an American as well, for similar and different reasons, especially if you are uncomfortable with the notions of military tribunals, secret detentions, “voluntary” interviews of thousands of Arab and Muslim men ages 18 - 33 and this ramped up war threatening rhetoric against Iraq, Sudan, North Korea etc. I don’t think that dropping bombs everywhere solves problems. I think that it just causes more death and destruction and inflames even more people in the rest of the world. There must be ways and other solutions for the powers that be in this country to build bridges and understanding, instead of bombing and destroying lives, let alone bridges and creating more hatred and misunderstanding.
