PLANS AND PROJECTS

PROPERTY EVACUATION and RENOVATION

The proceedings regarding the evacuation of the property in Tirana were impeded by the unfortunately chaotic and unsettling situation in the country from 1997, and the crises that followed in 1998 and 1999. Steps have already been taken to restart these processes, and, hopefully, we will see some results in a not too distant  future.

Initial plans have been outlined for the eventual renovation of the real estate, as described in the above section of the Albanian Institute. While these plans for the physical facilities are being developed, some fundraising activities will be undertaken.

Although costs in Albania are not as high as in the U.S., large amounts of money will be needed for essential repairs. The property is located in a prime real estate area of the capital and, even though it is considered by many local residents as still one of the best buildings in town, in our estimation it requires lots of work to setup adequate facilities for the intended purposes.

An honor wall in the main, large lobby of the building is planned to be inscribed with the names of the donors that will contribute amounts of US $10,000.- or more. Donations of at least US $5,000.- can be earmarked for renovation of specific rooms, which can be named after the donors.

CONTRIBUTION of HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS

The family documents, photographs, and the very large Albanian flag that was proudly displayed at the Ivanaj home in Tirana in the past, were saved by Mrs. Ivanaj almost 60 years ago and are now in New York. They will be shipped to the Institute in Tirana as soon as its premises become available.

The books, documents, and papers that Drita Ivanaj has collected during her lifetime in the United States, will also be shipped to the same Institute. The largest portion of this collection consists of business management, accounting, system development, and futuristic publications, in addition to quite a variety of cassette recorded seminars of similar topic. Instructional videos, art publications, and a large musical records collection are also included.

The plan is to put all of these materials at the disposal of anyone who wants to further his/her education, do research, make references, or even relax while learning!

Computer manuals, used software and hardware donated to the Ivanaj Foundation will also be shipped and distributed to individuals or organizations that can make use of them.

If other Albanian families wish to donate some of their own materials of historical value, the Ivanaj Institute will gladly accept them for display and use in the name of the donors.
